Effective date: 31 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how localBoost (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information when you use our websites, applications and related services (the “Services”). We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and — where relevant — New South Wales privacy expectations for transparent notice, secure handling and accessible complaint pathways.
1. Who we are
localBoost provides local growth software for Australian businesses, including review campaigns, QR codes, landing pages, bookings, lead forms, AI-assisted content and related tools. For privacy questions contact hello@localboost.com.au.
2. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details — name, email, phone, business name, role and address;
- Account and billing details — login identifiers, plan information and payment metadata processed by our payment providers;
- Business and campaign content — profiles, copy, media, QR settings, form submissions and customer records you upload or generate;
- Customer/end-user data you process — names, contact details, ratings, feedback and messages submitted through your public pages (you are typically the APP entity for that customer relationship);
- Technical data — IP address, device/browser type, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, referring URLs and diagnostics;
- Support communications — messages you send to our team.
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you, automatically through the Services, from your authorised team members, and from integrations you connect (for example Google Business Profile tools). Where we collect personal information from someone other than the individual, we take reasonable steps to ensure the individual is aware of this Policy, unless an APP exception applies.
4. Purposes of use
We use personal information to:
- provide, maintain and improve the Services;
- create and manage accounts, subscriptions and support;
- host and deliver your campaigns, forms, QR destinations and reports;
- process payments and prevent fraud or abuse;
- send service, security and (where permitted) marketing communications;
- comply with Australian law and enforce our Terms of Use.
5. Disclosure of personal information
We may disclose personal information to:
- service providers who host infrastructure, email, analytics, payments or customer support on our behalf;
- integration partners you choose to connect;
- professional advisers and insurers where reasonably necessary;
- regulators, courts or law enforcement when required or authorised by Australian law;
- a buyer or successor as part of a business transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality.
We do not sell personal information. Some providers may store or access data outside Australia. Where cross-border disclosure occurs, we take reasonable steps consistent with APP 8.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use essential cookies for authentication and security, and may use analytics cookies to understand product usage. You can control cookies through your browser. Some features may not work if essential cookies are disabled.
7. Security and retention
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure (APP 11). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes above, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements, then delete or de-identify it when retention is no longer required.
8. Access, correction and complaints (including NSW)
Under the APPs you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. To make a request or complaint, email hello@localboost.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). NSW residents and NSW-based businesses may also raise concerns through applicable NSW complaint pathways and Fair Trading guidance where the issue relates to consumer or small-business dealings.
9. Children
The Services are directed to businesses and are not intended for children under 16. If you believe we have collected a child’s personal information inappropriately, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Your responsibilities as a business customer
If you use localBoost to collect personal information from your customers, you must have a lawful basis and provide your own privacy notice where required. You must not upload unlawful, sensitive or prohibited content, and you remain responsible for the accuracy of customer records you control.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy where permitted by law.
